Syma S031
Overview
The Syma S031 is a big version of the popular and fantastic S107. It is designed to be flown out doors, since its really too big to be flown inside. Unfortunately Co-Axial helicopter do not handle any sort of wind very well and this helicopter is under powered for its size.
Flying this outside in a mild wind is mainly an exercise in watching the helicopter flying away, and then going and getting it.
It is very inexpensive for its size and will fly quite well in no wind conditions. It does have a tendency to go off high into the sky. However, it mainly seems to land on its skids.
If you have a big empty warehouse or live in a place with very little wind, this is a great helicopter. Unfortunately for most people, its going to be a miss, due to wind issues outside.

Is this RC Helicopter for Me?
If you have a warehouse to fly it in or are ok with only breaking it out on calm days then this is a great helicopter. For most people, the inability to fly it in any sort of breeze is going to make it not worth it.

General Sentiment
Very solid piece of flying equipment. The gyro system is top-notch and only requires VERY minor trimming out of the box! Maiden flight was in a small kitchen area and stuck the landing perfectly! This model is the absolute, by far, the best I’ve used for beginner / advanced-beginner training. With such stable flight, you can really put the craft through the paces and focus less on over- / under-controlling the flight path. Pros: stabilized elevation stick, durable heli body with forgiving rotors, easy to set up and start flying, very responsive to all stick movements, VERY inexpensive replacement parts are available, and can move very fast when placed in the tail rotor ‘boost’ mode. Cons: wish it had the 4th channel for even further advanced training just short of moving to single-rotor equipment. Overall – couldn’t be happier!

Flying Difficulty
Unlike the S107G, there is no way to use this in a typical size home or even a modest So Cal size back yard. Once you have enough space this thing is awesome. Unless you have a lot of experience, I do not recommend a parking lot; you really need grass for softer crash landings. I am amazed that these are so inexpensive.
